Sarabeth's, AMNH, Zabar's, Pinky's and Gone With the Wind
Woke up to tons of rain. It started around 5:30 am and we headed over to breakfast at Sarabeth's near me on Amsterdam. Luckily the rain and early hour kept the crowds away until when we were leaving around 10ish. We headed to Gristede's so I could get some cat food. The rain was constant but not yet a downpour. We headed to the West entrance to the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) but they had it locked up due to shortage of staff. We dodged the rain to enter the North side. We got tickets to see the butterfly house. Wow! I was captivated. I loved all the colors, the flight, the energy. Too bad some stupid parents were setting bad examples for their kids - one mom was encouraging her kid to catch one on a plant - and he of course ended up killing it! What is wrong with some parents? I also got a ticket for Jean to see the gold exhibit which I had already seen. We wandered around until 1pm or so. Luckily Margs called to tell us our flight to RDU had been canceled. Margs called the airline and scheduled us on the flight leaving tomorrow. I hope we make it out but the rain continues to deluge the area. When we headed to lunch at Pizzeria Uno it was coming down in buckets. We skipped over to Filene's Basement, Zabar's, and then to Pinky's. Jean got a manicure and I got a wonderful pedicure. Ah! It felt soooo good to have me feet rubbed and warmed in the spa tub - with jets! Hmmm, good. We headed home because the rain was just too torrential. Jean decided to watch Gone With the Wind - fun. Very relaxing day.
