Summer Movies in Bryant Park

Find Your Square Foot

Summer is officially here! The first Monday night film was Annie Hall, such a classic for the setting. Unfortunately I arrived late due to a community board meeting I needed to attend for work. Luckily Annie and friends staked out a nice table with chairs at around 5:30 pm but even then they said the lawn was full already. I showed up with my friend (and co-worker who also went to the meeting with me) at around 9ish. The fun was trying to find Annie and Co. in the massive crowd and in the dark. We found them, settled in, munched on the gracious foodstuff Annie and Co. brought - cheese, bread, fruits, cherries, chocolate, and more yummy cheese. I laughed at all my favorite moments:

"I had heard that "Commentary" and "Dissent" had merged and formed "Dysentery." ,
and the Leopold and Loeb reference,
and the pastrami on white with mayonnaise, lettuce and tomatoes,
and the vibrating egg,
and the Marshall McLuhan confrontation in the movie line,
and many more.

Often I though I was one of a few laughing. Must be a younger audience. But even this old gal found a line I'd missed in many a viewings before - or maybe I only find it funny now as a Harvard alumni:

"Hey, Harvard makes mistakes too! Kissinger taught there!"
