Earth Day and Fort Greene

Going Green
Had fun working our Earth Fair booth at Grand Central Terminal. Today's crazy was a woman lecturing me about hari krisha ideology, that we shouldn't pass out fish card because we shouldn't eat fish or we'd be reincarnated in a fish body, on and on. She was so judgmental and would not shut up. Literally ten minutes later her friend finally pulled her away. Yet another reason I do not like religious dogma.

Cool in Brooklyn

Yikes, All the multi-ethnic hipster twenty and early thirty somethings are living and hanging out in Brooklyn, specifically near Fulton and Lafayette in Ft. Greene. The sounds and sexuality was flowing as fast as the mojito and margaritas unbiquitous in everyone's hands at Habana. I felt like I was back in high school, accidentally entering the lair of the cool crowd and hoping to find an elegant exit before they kicked me out.

Stonehome Wine Bar

Met up with C&M for their going away shindig a block away at the more sedate and enjoyable garden section table at Stonehome. I had a wonderful savory asparagus flan with grilled mushrooms, bacon, and greens. Yum! Just wish they had warmed the flan a bit - too cold to really serve with the room temperature sauce and compliments. The spring pea gemelli was good, simple, but small in portion for an entrée and should have been served hotter. While the pasta was homemade, the sauce and cooking made it a tad bit chewy which I actually enjoyed, finding it creamier than expected. Unfortunately serving it semi-warm meant it was cold by the time I finished the plate. Overall it was a yummy meal and they had limonata!

C&M Goodbyes
I'm going to miss my friends. I understand living in NYC is not the easiest particularly if you like greenspaces, land, and room to roam. And without family, it can be tough. I know C&M would love to buy a place, have pets and nature surrounding them, and NYC is too expensive for that dream in such an urban setting. So they're off next week to be closer to family in the larger D.C.. I'll miss them, watching classic 70s TV, heading to local places for music, but I won't miss their cockroach stories. Until we meet again.
