Patsy's
Ah, the classic Italian eatery. No, not the pizza place up in the Bronx; the wonderful, old-school, white-tablecloth, same-waiters-for-forty-years place on 56th. It's just classic. No fancy, high presentation cuisine with avant garde plating and strange ingredients. This is yummy, homey, traditional, comfort Italian food is cooked by a guy called Chef Sal. Common! Ya gotta love a place with a Chef Sal. It feels like I'm tripping back to the late 1950s with waiters in nice uniforms, mirrored walls, coat check, paintings of Italian scenes, and bald guys. Started with clams casino and shrimp cocktail. I had the ravioli three ways - mushroom, spinach and lobster, each with its own sauce. Dad had the osso bucco. I also love that they have a great bar which included Red Dubonnet which is my mom's favorite; even Per Se doesn't stock it. Finished with some of the best espresso and cappuccino in the city complimented by some amazing biscotti. Yum!
