Yang Yang

It starts with crying. A young, lovely Chinese-French teenager is crying at her mother's wedding. Crying seems to happen a lot in her identity quest. Life is tough as she is adored by men, runs track, and wonders about her father although tells everyone she doesn't worry about her father. Her new step-sister is vengeful. Her agent/maybe boyfriend uses her. More crying. Lots of camera shots way too close - while dancing, talking, walking. A few camera shots too far away - running around the track. Lots of shots through the light source obliterating images and annoying my eyes. It's like someone gave the camera to an uncoordinated ten-year old. The performance by Sandrine Pinna is one-noted. It was torture to see her weep, pout and otherwise just emote variations on 'sad' for what seemed like days. Time to cut the time loss and just cry over this downer of a film choice.
