Cupcake Tasting!

Church of Brunch and Cupcakes

Headed to Bubby's in Brooklyn. Now I know where all the strollers in Dumbo have convened. Still didn't like the food but at least the space was a little bigger and open. Then it was off to try out cupcakes all around Brooklyn. We stopped into a place near Bubby's - dense cake but too big and sweet, frosting was more like a mousse which was lovely. Then it was off to Brooklyn Heights locations like Joyce and Two Little Red Hens. Found out that the owners of Two Little Red Hens have since parted ways, one claiming the Upper East Side location and the other keepinghte Brooklyn location. Strange thing is the UES location is keeping the name while the Brooklyn location is changing its name to LadyBird Bakery. Wrong since the two stained glass windows ofthe little red hens greet you over the door when you enter the Brooklyn space. Unfortunately all the places we tried were so-so - cake too dry, frosting too sugary or grainy. The red velevet at Little Red Hen was great but the yellow cake with chocolate froting too bland and dry with hard and super-sweet icing.
