Holiday Windows

I spent over four hours walking around Manhattan to see all the windows and decorations. I was rather excited to take pictures of the fabulous displays I'd seen while walking to work - especially Bergdorf's windows inspired by Tony Duquette. I first walked across the park, hit Barney's at Madison and 61st - green was there theme with recycled materials, the reindeer was the coolest. Then I headed to Bloomingdales at 59th and Lex with windows based on kid's write-in stories - just so-so. Walked to Bergdorf Goodman's with not only had the Earth, Fire, Air, Water and Light windows on their 5th Ave. side but several fun displays on the 58th St. side - Fact or Fiction? Lady or Tiger? Naughty or Nice? and Empire or Regancy? Henri Bendell's windows were candy and coffee inspired. Walked down 5th to Saxs - their windows were teh voiced Marlo Thompson story SnowPeople. Then past the Library to Lord & Taylor - old fashion windows with themes of Christmas: aroma, taste, feel, tradition, music. Then it was over on 34th St. to Macy's displaying Santa's journey, through winter winds, northern and southern hemispheres and into New York City. Back up through Times Square, watched the lighted stars set to music in Columbus Circle and then up to the tree at Lincoln Center before heading home. Through all that work, I felt great about my photos until I compared them to the professionals - I suck! But at least I got in some good exercise!
