Heathman Hotel

Grabbed several small bites in the lounge area of the Heathman Hotel, Portland. Great location when waiting between Portland Film Festival films which are located right across the street.

I had the snails and frogs legs. The meat was wonderfully cooked but unfortunately they paired them with an overly rich and heavy bourguignon-type sauce which was too gooey and overpowering in flavor, smothering the subtler and lighter flavors of the frog and snails.

The oysters were great and they served me plenty of horseradish. But seriously, oysters just need to be selected for freshness and shucked.

For dessert I had the prunes and rice pudding. I hoped for flavorful prunes steeped in a sweet and spicy syrup. Hope springs eternal. I just got rather bland and standard prunes and rice pudding, but it was better than can be expected at the hospital.

The ambiance was fabulous. I feel like I'm in a comfy and posh lounge, no troubles, no rush, just good conversation and comfy seats.
