Reykjavik-Rotterdam

A by-the-numbers crime action thriller that keeps pace with many Hollywood flicks, which means I was bored. Start with a reformed alcohol smuggler who is living a lean life trying to support his wife and two kids on a workingman's salary. His wife's ex-boyfriend, who happened to setup most of our hero's runs, gets him to do one last run. Who would guess it would go wrong putting his wife in danger and forcing him to outwit some dumb cops and an obnoxious OGV captain. They did add some humor related to making fun of Pollack, dumb art thieves, and silly chase sequences just to keep things from getting too tedious. Still, the entire movie played just like every other one-last-heist-job film just changing a few details and supporting characters. Yes, it kept the chases going. Yes, it kept people in peril. Yes, you could guess most every move before it happened. And yes, many people might like this escapist ride. I am saddened that they wasted funds to produce something that Hollywood churns out all summer like sausage. I expect more from my foreign films. Guess I expected too much.
